Psychological acuteness   Written by Rae (4/15/2008 3:54 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Her fairytale history, penned by Tarn
Are you new?

I think the relationship between Emma and Jane is one of JA's most brilliant portrayals of a truth that we all know but cannot really explain or justify. Sometimes people who are really nice, really good and everyone thinks should be such a good friend for you are really, really irritating! Emma does well to hide it in her interaction with Miss Bates, but she lets her guard down (perhaps a bit too much) in discussing her with Harriet.
