He sounds like such an amiable man. Principled, clever, sensible, money to boot - and he could be fun too. Maybe he is one of the few there in Highbury (unlike Mr Elton and co.) who wants to marry for the right reasons - that is love. He isn't married because he hasn't found the person he loves yet? I wonder there's not a trail of women after him (or his money).
