I have a theory...   Written by Elbč (4/10/2008 2:05 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Is Emma a liar too?, penned by Lila
Are you new?

Emma lies, like we all do, that is certain, as to decieving herself, I see it in this way. She changes facts to have things work according to her thinking frame of how the world should be. She goes through her various thoughts and calculations later having trouble (or conveniently so) remebering what is fact and what was her own invention - getting lost in her own thoughts? It seems as though she has momentary lapses of memory with regards to what is real and what is invented, so its hard being sure if Emma is being deliberate or blind.

Still, I don't know why despite Emma being blatantly wrong - and cruel, I can't help liking her. I have to shake my head at her most of the time, but there is something about her that I like - and that is mostly in Emma's unguarded moments, when she is not busy thinking too much.

Emma is a bit like a girl playing dolls, except her dolls are real people -yikes!
