Are you new?

How is Emma self-deceiving in this section? Do you think all her plans and plots aimed at getting Harriet and Mr Elton in love with each other are subconscious, and as far as the conscious layer of her brain is concerned, she has no such intention?

I agree that Emma is deceiving herself on the topic of Robert Martin's manners, but I think she is fully consciously lying to Mr Knightley about her plans for Harriet.
