I can envision a bit of that conversation   Written by Laraine (4/2/2008 1:00 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I see your point, penned by Nicki
Are you new?

in which Mr. Perry and Mr. Woodhouse agree that Mr. Woodhouse should be thought to have the final word, and his own way.

Mr. Woodhouse: "I believe that wedding cake is far too rich to be considered wholesome. Do not you agree, Mr. Perry?

Mr. Perry: Well, Mr. Woodhouse, I would not call it unwholesome. Festive occasions are oftentimes made more festive by such nicities. However, as with most rich foods, I would say that moderation is always a sensible precaution.

Mr. Woodhouse: Wedding cake very much disagrees with me, sir. Do you believe that it could do anything less than disagree with people in general?

Mr. Perry: It might certainly disagree with more people than yourself, sir, even if there are those to whom it might be considered to do no harm. I would never suggest that it be taken by anyone with whom it disagrees, such as yourself.

Mr. Woodhouse: Just so, sir. I wonder that Miss Taylor thinks it necessary to have it at all.

(And this becomes, for Mr. Woodhouse, Mr. Perry's decided disapprobation for wedding cake.)
