We did that   Written by Barbara (4/1/2008 4:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, No, no......, penned by JulieW
Are you new?

We ate the top layer of our wedding cake at our oldest son's baptism (although ours was frozen, not preserved with brandy!)

But I know the type of cakes my grandmas would make for Christmas, which are very similar if not virtually identical to this wedding cake recipe, would last a long, long while.

"Mr. Woodhouse hoped to influence every visitor of the new-married pair;"

I'm assuming that everyone who came to see a newly-married couple within at least several months of their marriage would be offered some cake until it was all gone.
