Wedding cake is the first food mentioned in the story. The large cake (as shown by Elizabeth Raffald's Bride Cake) is shared out among friends to enjoy and in celebration of a happy development in life of Highbury, the marriage of Mr Weston and 'poor Miss Taylor'. ;)
