Are you new?

I posted on this in answer to MandyN. Just add a little something, all that you mention in your message makes me think even more that the cause of his actions may be rooted in clinical depression, and that his valetudinarian behavior is his way to cope with the problem.

This is very interesting. I had never thought of why Mr. W is the way he is. But nothing comes out of a void. There has to be a cause to his present behavior.
