Indeed, a lovely picture...this is how I imagined Harriet's 'little Welch cow'.
I suppose the Martins had a decorative dairy to go with their pretty herd of cows too. ;-)
The Martins with 2 parlours, books, and a summerhouse for drinking tea appear moderately genteel in their habits.
Interesting letter by Mrs Austen re: Alderney cows. I hadn't realized their interest for both faming and decorative purposes for the gentry.
