I wonder how Mr.K and DOMW could develop a friendship as they are so different from each other. DOMW is described as "without activity of mind or body" and "his talents could not have recommended him at any time" whereas Mr.K is told to be "a sensible man". I know that there are family ties but I understand that Mr.K visited Hartfield even before his brother was married to Isabella.


Is it because there was no other family that shared their position in society or did people in those times have a wider range of friends as there weren´t so many opportunities to meet other people?
