Different schools?   Written by Mia I. (3/30/2008 11:58 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Placed at a school, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

The relevant text states that Harriet has been at Mrs. Goddard's only several years, so I take it to mean more than 3 and less than 6 years.

Somebody had placed her, several years back, at Mrs. Goddard's school, and somebody had lately raised her from the condition of scholar to that of parlour-boarder.

She must have been at another school before that? Even Harriet has to remember something about it ;-). It is interesting to realize that Harriet has lived at more than one place, and to note that, since her life has been managed in this way, she accepts being managed by Emma without questioning.
