Doubling   Written by TimLee (3/19/2011 1:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, It's an example of why it's my favorite Austen novel, penned by Laraine
Are you new?

Frank comes to Harriet's defense when "attacked" by the vagabonds, Mr. K comes to Miss Bates's defense when attacked by Emma. Two defenseless women facing a much greater force. I never thought about these being mirrored events until you pointed out the doubled themes, Laraine, but I wonder if this might fit within your understanding of how JA crafted the novel.

Thanks for the thought-provoking,
Tim
