Jane to blame   Written by Bridget D (3/19/2011 4:58 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Generosity does not need to be tied to rank, penned by Ramya
Are you new?

well Jane may be to blame in getting invovlved in a secret relationship with Frank which does invovle her in some deceit.. but I dont see how she can be to blame with regard to Emma... except perhaps in that allowing her fiance to flirt iwth Emma as a cover MIGHT have resulted in Em falling in love with him....

But I cna't see why she's to blame over Emma per se. Emma is the one who is to blame for not being more friendy to her.. It does not matter that they are not IMO essentialy all that compatible, or that they might never be true friends. She did have a duty to show her some kindness and while she did do it to an extent, as she knows very well, (and it's the same with Miss bates) she didn't do as much as she ought...

I mean mabye Jane harbored evil thoughts of Emma, as Em did of Jane, and thought that she was carrying on a secret intrigue iwth Mr Martin but was hiding it by being snobby about him.. if she did that, she's in the wrong too.. but we're not told that seh did.. Perhpas she DID (Im sure seh did) think SOME unkind htoughts of Emma. that she was spoieled and selfish, taht she did not pay enough attention to J's dear aunt and grandma.. and that's what she now in her happiness feels a litle bit of guilt over.. or perhaps she feels a bit guilty that she had to "act a part" and be more reserved than usual when she visited Highbury... but I think that these are understandable faults...
