Matchmaking   Written by BarbaraB (3/19/2011 1:53 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, A "whole novel" theme, penned by Laraine
Are you new?

First of all, your opening is wonderful, must have been a really good paper if the beginning is anything to go by.

I feel that Emma is literally the only real matchmaker, though unsuccessful. The others do not go about actively trying to make matches in the same sense as Emma, but see potential matches in others that they leave to nature to take its course one way or another. Mr. Knightley does give asked advice and the Westons show their approval of Frank and Emma getting together but other than that, it seems all couples, except Emma's attempts on Harriet's behalf, are left to get together or not on their own. (Some think it possible that Mr. Knightley may have purposefully sent Mr. Martin to his brother's, but I don't know that I am ready to believe that. I would need to go back and reread the end and ponder on it some more.)
