I have actually wondered why   Written by Kathleen Glancy (3/16/2011 3:01 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, And to finally have to be married by that guy! Groan. (NFM), penned by jeffrey
Are you new?

Emma and Mr Knightley did not get married in the neighbouring parish of Donwell. We haven't met its rector (unless he is the Dr Hughes who attends the Crown Ball with his wife and is greeted by Miss Bates) but he must be an improvement on Mr Elton, surely. They did not, since Mrs Elton (who wasn't invited, I wonder why) gets her account of the wedding from her caro sposo, who can only have been there because he was officiating, since otherwise he would not have been invited either. I can only assume that Mr Woodhouse baulked at the notion of going to a different church from the one he was used to.
