The Dixon business ...   Written by gianni (3/16/2011 11:47 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I never absolved Emma of guilt, penned by Ramya
Are you new?

... was, to my mind, merely a visible manifestation of Emma's wrong. As I have said before, Emma, by her own admission, has turned a cold shoulder to Jane since they were children, and it's inconceivable that Jane would not have noticed it. It's a natural, even prudent reaction to treat someone with reserve who shows such antipathy.

Sure, Jane is even more reserved than usual, but after two years, for Queen Bee Emma to presume the right to grill Jane about her other life as if they had always been bosom buddies? Reserve was better than Emma deserved.

What's jarring to me is Jane's easy acceptance of Emma's friendly feelers once the wraps were off. I couldn't have put behind me so easily a lifetime of neglect.
