You reinforce why Emma is still my favorite JA read...   Written by jeffrey (3/15/2011 8:51 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, So glad to know I'm not alone! Thank you!, penned by Alison Y
Are you new?

I consider Mr. Knightley as Miss Austen's most flawless hero and the name she gave him was just so appropriate.

In borrowing a comparison with Mansfield Park, one of the telling phrases there was when Henry Crawford declared of Fanny "It would be something to be loved by such a girl."

Simply changing the gender in that phrase, Emma will discover "It would be something to be loved by such a man."

I'm gratified this discussion has finally centered on the most important element in the entire story: Mr. Knightley's unconditional love for Emma.
