Harriet and Emma sinking   Written by Bridget D (3/15/2011 6:46 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I don't read it that way either, but ..., penned by gianni
Are you new?

I think it is perfectly plain that Emma and Harriet will not now be close friends as tehy once were and that Mr K's and Emma's original beliefs about the class system (albeit they were slightly differnet in that she wanted to beleive that her patronage plus H's supposed status as a gent's daughter woudl trump H's illegitimacy) are vindicated. yes Emma will get to know R Martin a little (he is her husband's tenant as well) but she's not going to be best freinds with the Martins nor call on them except occasionally. She will have harriet visit Hartfield but nto that often.. probalby to lunch or tea but problaby not dinners.
