Well said Nikki N. (:D) Emma is really very careless of Harriet by encouraging her hopes and assuring her that she would marry a gentleman. Had it held sway over Emma, Mr. Knightley's more reasoned view of Harriet's prospects would have spared both ladies a great deal of misery. (:D)
