I agree about Illicit love. I think taht Emma was playing iwth a fantasy of "Poor Jane.. she's an annoying creature but how sad that perhaps she had a fancy for Mr Dixon and he maye had a littltle crush on her but she lost out to Miss Campbell becausse she had no money"... I think that it is half pity and half "superiority" on Emma's part and I dont think she's at all thinking of anything improper on Jane's part jsut a hopeless love....
