without solicitation, or plea, or privilege   Written by Stephanie (3/9/2011 2:57 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Your Censure may be Praise, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

Not to nitpick...

Okay, well, really only to nitpick -- forgive me in advance? -- but the reason Mr. Knightley saying those things, as if they were the only defining characteristics of Harriet Smith, was mean was because they WERE true. If someone tells you something that is not true about yourself, no matter how it is worded, the hurt is MORE if it is a valid remark, not less.

Do you notice that Mr. Knightley took a chance to know Harriet and was pleasantly surprised, and Emma took a chance to meet Robert Martin and was also pleasantly surprised? They both have some biases, as well as the ability to admit they are wrong - eventually.
