Yes, I have often thought why Emma did not apologize...   Written by jeffrey (3/7/2011 11:15 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Miss Bates, Emma and Mr Woodhouse, penned by Kathleen Glancy
Are you new?

The only reason I could come up with was that Emma may have felt a direct verbal apology beneath her station in regards to Miss Bates(?)

However, I DO credit Emma for two actions that speak louder than words: Her own personal contrition to visit Miss Bates at all and do it IMMEDIATELY while the offense was still fresh.

Would anyone venture any more on this puzzlement?
