Emma had done.   Written by Reeba (3/2/2011 4:24 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Just Joking, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

This is clearly a phrase which is an indication that Emma was 'playing' at something.

>I think the emphasis in the last line on her signals it is Emma who does not understand her father’s point:

Emma understands her father's point extremely well, and is teasing him by taking the conversation back to his dislike of marriage to lighten the situation, because she sees her father getting all worked up about his neglect of duty.

She's unable to humour him...that's when 'she was done'.

I can't believe that Emma would be expressing her opinion to her father, and trying to go against his ideas.
Circumstantial evidence shows that Emma always humours her father and not get into discussions.

I've responded to Emma greeting (or not) in another response to another of your posts.

I don't understand about the snub of Emma to Jane, Mrs Elton to Emma. Please enlighten.
