an unnecessary double journey by forgetting to pick Miss Bates and Jane Fairfax up on their way to the Crown Ball and having to send the carriage out again to fetch them. Admittedly it cannot have been a very long journey, but I am sure Mr Woodhouse would not have approved. And driving fast at night in a country village/almost town which would have no street lighting at all is a thing to be deplored, not boasted about.
