Well its a joke, and like many jokes it has unkindness in it, but if Miss B were a rcih woman who was rather tiresome and silly (while still good natured) I think Mr K would say "seh can take a joke or 2", but she's vulnerable. She's poor and not very clever... to make the joke was unkind and insensitive, givene her vulnerable position....
