I'm a little surprised though. Written by Reeba (2/28/2011 10:31 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Emma's thoughts come-to-life, penned by BarbaraB

According to Mr Knightley Emma's uncharitable comments would be alright if Miss Bates hadn't sunk from what they were.

I'm thinking it's not Emma's comment that he's angry about, but it's target alone (even though he accepts the ridiculousness of Miss Bates).

I would have thought the comment would be the thing to be criticized.
