I dotn see Emma as very interested in fashion but I dont see her as disdaining it either. Of course she's not going to be like Mrs E. (elegant terseness there!) alwasy drawing attention to her clothes and jewellery, but she's interested in elegance. She notes Jane F's beauty and her hair do.... and Harriet's and Im sure that she dresses well but simply, not in hte absolute "front lines" of fashion but not behind the times either....
