You mentioned frustration with others and it reminded me of my drive to work this morning. I got surrounded by a bunch of slow pokes on the freeway for a mile or so, and bemoaned to myself how they were all in my way.

But what would Miss Bates have done? Now, I certainly don't imagine her as a slow driver herself. Rather, I think her driving would reflect her conversational style. On the other hand, I think her attitude toward other drivers would equally reflect that same style. If only I had the same forebearance!
