Are you new?

I suspect Miss Bates sees more than she lets on. She may run on a bit, but I don't see that she is naive. Rather, she appears to me so far to be the type of person who tries to make the best of a situation instead of dwelling on shortcomings. She appreciates what she has, and appreciates what good she sees in people, and happily is quick to see what good she can in others.

So to answer your question, I'd choose to be like Miss Bates. She has qualities I admire and would like to cultivate if possible.
