Thank you, and What I would like to do with Mr. Woodhouse   Written by jeffrey (2/24/2011 8:58 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I'll be joining you behind the potted plant., penned by Patricia AA
Are you new?

Being ex-military and a Vietnam Vet, I have this daydream:

Do any of you remember Gunnery Sergeant Arlee on "Mail Call?" He is a real-life Marine Corps Drill Instructor and played the part on "Full Metal Jacket."

I'd love to usher him into Mr. Woodhouses's presence and have ol' gunny order him to attention and begin yelling in his face
"Buck up you lifer-loser! If I hear any more whining I'll jack-slap that face of yours into the next county! Drop you maggot and give me twenty! Act like a man....you got a set, use'em!! etc....etc."

I don't know how old Mr. Woodhouse is but I guess he is near my own age of 65 (I'm still a little boy on the inside!) However, he is old beyond his years because he has never had anyone to get on his case. It continually amazes me how Mr. Knightley keeps his patience with the old man. He cuts Emma hardly any slack but never says a contrary word to Mr. Woodhouse. I guess that is a true gentleman but go figure...
