...I said that Emma "likes to have her little opportunities to snub people", not that she actually gets those opportunities or always takes advantage of them when they arise. Reexamine her "inner soliloquies" up to now, and you'll see that they often center on what people are doing wrong in what Emma considers the deference due to her or others (e.g. "Knightley!"), or on the "lessons" they deserve to be taught.
