A really good point, and an eye-opener about Emma   Written by Delories (2/24/2011 3:09 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I'll be joining you behind the potted plant., penned by Patricia AA
Are you new?

Some of her more "insufferable" traits --the overactive imagination, the compulsion to meddle in others' lives-- could indeed be an escape valve from the reality of her otherwise highly privileged life: she has, since childhood, taken on the responsibility of dealing with her father. This is obviously a responsiblity that colors not only her present life, but which will affect her future, as well (I can't see her going to live in London with a husband, like Isabella did, not that there's anything bad about that).

Whatever else Emma may do, she gets a lot of slack from me for how skilfully and lovingly she deals with Mr. Woodhouse.
