Maybe not So Used to Fancy Carriages   Written by Jane Marie (2/23/2011 12:27 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Chapt. 33: the BAROUCHE-LANDAU is back!, penned by Delories
Are you new?

We can modernize by substituting "Bentley Continental" (soft top, of course) for the Barouche Landau.

"Yes, I was enjoying the sights of the Peak District, sipping Champaign, while accommodated in my brother's Bentley. And yes, we will likely find a seat for dear Jane (too bad for you - Emma.) Emma may have to make do with her Mercedes, Beamer, Lincoln, or Caddy.

I think Mrs. E. could have said "Landau" and have been understood as meaning the fancy Barouche. Using both terms together may indicate that she is not quite as used to fancy carriages as she wants people to believe.
