I see a mutual liking for each other here.

Jane is giving more information about her private thoughts here than necessary, leading to the emotional climax.

I have always maintained that with Emma its a mutual dislike which prevents Jane from easier communication.

As for her interaction with Mrs Elton, till now we have only heard of Mrs Elton pushing Jane and organizing things for her.

If Jane can accept this from Mrs Elton then why not Emma's few questions on an evening.
Mrs Elton must have probed minutely into her life with the Campbells.
Another example IMO to show Jane's dislike for Emma.

How would Jane know about the thoughts of Emma regarding her and Mr Dixon to find her questions suspicious?
