The portion you have bolded   Written by Ramya (2/22/2011 2:26 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Furthering their Acquaintance, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

is only in regards to Mrs. Weston's suspicions about Mr. Knightley and Jane Fairfax. Mrs. Weston is giving a glance of meaning to Emma- they are both remembering their prior conversation on the subject. Mr. Knightley's vehemence seems to support Mrs. Weston's theory. The faint blush in Emma's cheek is not to denote shame, IMO.

It was probably too much to expect JF open up to Emma after a two-year absence and years of neglect prior to that. Emma had some relenting feelings towards JF, and proferred her an olive branch, which was rebuffed by Jane. I don't blame Jane in the least, but I don't agree that Emma should have tried to overcome Jane's reserve towards herself. After all, if Mr. Knightley could not succeed, why should Emma? ;-)
