Yes! Emma as a project herself! Knowing Emma as we do, we can guess that she would dislike the very idea, let alone the specific tactics Mr. Knightley is using to bring it about! I would advise him to keep his intents to himself... *chuckles*

This is ironic -- you would think that either the parent or the governess would be the one trying to direct Emma down a particular path -- think Mrs. Bennet or General Tilney, controlling their children's friendships and marriages. (I can not think of a governess or companion steering a young adult in Author Austen's work offhand.)
