It would seem..   Written by Rabab (2/16/2011 3:12 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Oh, that 'disposition to think a little too well of herself'!, penned by Tom P2
Are you new?

... that the fact that Emma also possesses a "very silly" relative (my apologies to Mr Woodhouse), of whom she is very protective, and to whom she is extremely loyal, would give her an insight and tolerance for other people's foibles and whims...

Emma sometimes reminds me of Mr Bennet of P&P, in his zeal to make sport of the neighbors, but whereas he appears not to discriminate in favor of his relatives, Emma is of course very tolerant of silliness if it comes in the form of a beloved father, friend or sister. Her loyalty is admirable, but if only it gave her empathy and forbearance!!

People living in glass houses and all that... ;)
