I do not think Harriet could go visit the Martins from Mrs. Goddard's unless the Martins offered to send a carriage for her. Their farm is apparently some distance from Highbury; ch. 3 describes it as being in the parish of Donwell. I would guess it farther than Harriet could easily walk for a social call, and Mrs. Goddard keeps no carriage.
