(or confesions of a sloppy reader) In my first couple of re-reads of Emma, I thought better of Emma at this juncture of the story. Now, in my 4th re-read, I'm beginning to feel Miss Austen's own declaration of Emma being a personality that no one could like but the author.

With these precious insights from the group read, my opinion of Emma's behavior has now plummeted to an all-time low! I'm not particularly enamored with either Emma OR Harriet at present.

So things get worse before they get WORSE? Good grief.....nevertheless, reading on now.
