since I think Emma would be furious, though she would not let it out (since other people are there) until she is alone, when I suspect she would rant.

Do we know that Jane did not say she was happy for her friend? That would in fact be the conventional response. What Emma dislikes is her refusing to answer questions about Mr Dixon's character, Jane's own value for his company, or Jane's opinion of the suitableness of the match. I would not personally have answered such questions about my closest friend's new husband and marriage, especially if I felt it was no business of the person asking me.
