Emma was not impertinent   Written by Patricia AA (2/13/2011 10:55 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, You may throw as many bricks as you like, but..., penned by Felicity

I have to agree that Emma was not being impertinent in asking after the Campbells or the suitability of the match.

Recall P&P, when Darcy attempts idle chat with Elizabeth at Hunsford parsonage by making observations/asking questions on the suitability of the match between Mr. Collins and Charlotte Lucas?

No one would ever accuse Mr. Darcy of having overstepped the boundaries of polite conversation...I too believe that Emma's questions were acceptable, and err Jane's reticence in "stonewalling" her.
