Emma   Written by Bridget D (2/13/2011 2:49 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Jumping in on this question, penned by Sarah Hannah
Are you new?

well sorry but IMO and I've now said it far too often, there is no need for anyone to teach Emma class consciousness or being condescening to the lower orders. It is bred int her as it was to 99% of English people at the time. Mr Woodhouse is quite willing to receieve the "second set" of Highbury anyway, because he prefers company that he can "command" in the sense that he has to have his own litlte ways considered, about eating and late hours and so on. so it suits him better probably to have little quet parties with women like Miss B and Mrs G, nad who being poorer are willing ot put up with his little oddities for hte sake of a dinner and a nice evening out...
