A great turn of phrase!   Written by Patricia AA (2/12/2011 8:48 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Martyr & Heiress, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

QUOTE Robbin: "I think Emma does enjoy the idea Jane is a martyr—sacrificing herself to the life of a governess for the happiness of her friends. This is something to interest Emma! Jane the martyred governess is as worthy of Emma’s friendship as Harriet the heiress denied."

LOL--Thank you Robbin for giving me a chuckle on a dull Saturday night!

I too believe that Emma's imagination is working on overdrive where Jane Fairfax and the Dixons are concerned. She has absolutely NO BASIS for making the assumption that Jane Fairfax has feelings for Mr. Dixon beyond those of friendship.
