Mr K and Emma   Written by Bridget D (2/11/2011 4:03 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Visiting the parish poor was a duty as the ranking female, penned by AnnetteJ
Are you new?

Emma is not a rebel by any stretch of the immagination.

Neither is mr Knightleye. He may mix a bit more with people in Highbury, becuase he's invovlved in business with them in a way that a woman like Emma would not be... but he does not socialise wtih the Martins or invite them to dinner. He refers to Harriet as "illegitimate and ignorant" and feels that she'd be very lucky to marry a farmer, and that she was sent ot HIghbury to live in Mrs Goddard;s set and that it woudl be better to leave her in it. Clearly he does not regard mrs G's set as among the "first rate" of Highbury....
