Miss Bates and Emma   Written by Bridget D (2/11/2011 3:58 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Emma means to avoid the "second and third rate", penned by AnnetteJ
Are you new?

I agree taht she should have visited the Bates more often, but I cna't blame her for finding Miss B boring and tiresome and for not wnating to sit thruogh her long speeches nad thte boring conversation of her visitors. I think many young people woudl find ti equally boring and would drag thier heels and not wnat to go when advised by their elders "you really outhgt to pay a visit to poor old Miss so and so.. she's getitng on you know nad she was always a nice woman". Emma doesn't stint on the pracitcal side of kindness to the Bateses.. she has Miss B up to Hartfield, she sends them gifts, but she doesn't visit as much as she ought.. but I think it is understandable.
