Col Campbell   Written by Bridget D (2/10/2011 7:21 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Jane Fairfax and Fanny Price, penned by Nikki N
Are you new?

WRT Miss C's fortune, I thoughth that it was COl Campbell's sole resource - his £12k and Miss C would inherit it when he died, not that it was her dowry. Givne that Col C is not very rich, while it true that his daughter has married a wealthy man, I think it would still be considered a bit "off" to give a dowry or money to even a beloved adopted daughter like Jane at the expense of his own child and grandchildren. Sir T B's sitatuion is different in that he IS a rich man and Fanny is his neice so she is a member of his family. Had Col C been very rich also, he might have been willing to detach soem money from his daughter for Jane, but he isn't.
