Mr. W and Emma both are too naive to understand the riddle's innuendo, and would each be shocked if someone brought it to their attention. I think Emma would be shocked because she'd actually get it, while her father would be shocked not because he understood its impropriety but because someone would have pointed out to him that it was somehow improper.
