I agree, it is a difficult riddle to understand. BarbaraB supplied the answer of 'chimney sweep'. Lighting a fire under the lad to move him up the chimney...perhaps compared to a woman's fanning the flames of desire???

I'd love to hear a really good explanation of it, and how the verses relate to the answer. Where are the talented RoP poets for this one??? Jeffrey--We need you desperately!!!
