Blown away by Miss Bates' monologues in Ch 19...   Written by jeffrey (2/7/2011 9:03 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Some Clues to Reality, penned by Jane Marie
Are you new?

The brilliance of Miss Austen's masterful handling of the rambling monologues of Miss Bates are simply some of the finest examples of that singular skill in all literature: Humorous, poignant, revealing...

Miss Bates is one of my very favorite Austen characters: Simultaneously endearing/noble and maddening/frustrating.

Everyone knows a Miss Bates do they not? Miss Bates just jumps off the page at me she is such an alive and genuine person.
