of this conversation.

She's pooh-poohing a theory of Emma's which Emma has formed after much deliberation about herself, her importance and her position helped along by her vanity...that "she's right" in establishing it.

She has often repeated this to others as well.
Mr Knightley in CH:5;

"She always declares she will never marry, which, of course, means just nothing at all."

LOL! Harriet is quite close to Mr Knightleys intelligence here.
